To take the time to learn about market demand is one of those critical crossroads steps that all entrepreneurs must face in order to increase their odds of success. This is called choosing a niche. A niche is a specific audience that you target with your goods or services. Easy right? Not always.
It isn’t always easy to determine who wants what, when they want it, how they want it, where they want it, the cost it must be, etc…
Here are two great locations to start your market research.
- Google Trends (Non-Pay): Google Trends allows anyone to type in a specific set of keyword(s) to help determine their frequency of use in the Google platform.
- Google Adwords/Adwords Express (Pay): Adwords works a lot like Google Trends; however, on the Adwords platform, you can pay for advertising to market to specific keywords.
Once you’ve chosen your keywords, niche, product, etc. your next stop ought to be to learn about 10x concepts. 10x concepts work a lot like researching your market, but on a much deeper level. 10x concepts show you how certain competitors (within your chosen market) are specifically operating which is to learn enough to decide if your industry is ripe for you, or not. Some don’t look ripe, but they are. Some are just ripe. Some are dead. All of that research is up to you. Choose your niche wisely.
