The Coronavirus Panic Reveals The Big Business of Fear

Our society is sadly dominated by fear & misinformation. Way to many of us buckle at the knees (as a reflex action) from bogus sources that thirst and also specialize in peddling fear and misinformation.

Why would they take the opportunity to peddle this?

Attention.

The more attention (in this case negative attention) = more money, either from increased views/traffic and/or receiving funding from private/govt sources; which money has already flowed due to the barrages of fear.

If this event were to be quantified , the overblown Coronavirus event is over 98% fear, and MAYBE 2% legitimate concern. That’s a liberal guesstimate. Dr. Drew recently mentioned, “A bad flu season is 80,000 dead. We’ve got about 18,000 dead from influenza this year; we have 100 from corona,” Dr. Pinsky told CBS Local’s DJ Sixsmith in an interview.

This isn’t an attempt to downplay the legitimate Corona cases at all (because they are obviously serious) but if you look deep into the details, you’ll learn the truth.

Example: The flu is literally far worse than Corona.

Another Ex. If you haven’t heard the recent opinion from Dr. Drew, I encourage you to check out his take on this event. Definitely insightful. He’s utterly pissed at the media for blowing this up into a “the sky is falling” apocalyptic scenario, when it simply is the opposite of that.

Dr. Drew is very specific about his distaste toward the panic. For example, he said, “What I have a problem with is the panic and the fact that businesses are getting destroyed and people’s lives are being upended. Not by the virus, but by the panic,” he explained. “The panic must stop, and the press, they really, somehow, need to be held accountable, because they are hurting people.”
